| I have a T23 Thinkpad. It works great! The only problem was that it got warm after an hour's use. I thought I would try this fan to see if it would work. Because of the low price I thought there was a catch. Because it plugs into a usb port I didn't expect it to be very efficient. I also thought it would be loud. I was wrong. This keeps my thinkpad from getting warm and it is surprisingly quiet. The only drawback is that it is curved and opened on the bottom so it does not sit on your lap comfortably. But if you get a little lapdesk there is no problem. |

| i bought this product because my laptops fan constantly kept coming on while i worked on long projects. i know that every time your laptop fan comes on the cpu is losing life because its starting to overheat. well i decided to pick up a fan. this one works great. i never hear my laptop fan come on. it makes the same amount of noise as the laptop fan does but i can feel the cold air coming from underneath it. it stands your laptop up as well and now my wrist are feeling much better. by standing up it allows the fan to pull in air around the laptop which is need instead of just spinning air in place from the small fans. this is a great product and was worth every dollar. |
Nice cooler for the money

1. A previous reviewer stated that this cooler "is made from lightweight plastic". Mine was actually made from aluminum (or possibly steel), not plastic. There's a good chance that there are two versions of this unit, one in plastic and one in metal.
2. The same reviewer also stated that the usb cord was too long, but I found it just perfect for my 12.1" laptop (only has usb ports on the sides). For someone with a bigger laptop without rear usb ports, the cord will probably be too short, if anything.
3. Seems that this is the exact same unit as the "USB Powered and Most Efficient Metal Cooler Pad with 3 Built-in Fans for Laptop Computer" that's sold on Amazon by a third-party vendor. That one explicitly states that it's made from anodized aluminum.
4. The Zalman notebook cooler is probably one of the best available, but who wants to pay $50-$60 for a laptop cooling pad? This way cheaper alternative probably gets the job done in most situations.
5. The fans can definitely be heard, but it's quieter than most other coolers I've come across.
6. As another reviewer stated, the fans (sleeve bearing, fyi, as one would expect) are held on by screws and can easily be replaced by any hobbyist if they ever fail (splicing would be required). The minimalistic design and cheap cost of the unit makes it simple to repair/customize as needed.
7. I haven't found the open underside of the unit to be a big inconvenience. Like other reviewers have stated, all you need is a flat and sturdy base (like a large book or cutting board) if you want to use the cooler on your lap. I actually bought the cooler exclusively for that purpose, and I have no complaints. For the record, and it's probably obvious, but the fans have grills on them so their fins aren't exposed- a reviewer uploaded a nice picture of the underside of the cooler where this can be seen.
9. The only issue I'd have with the open underside is that it limits the cooler's portability somewhat since extra care has to be taken to ensure the fans' wires aren't damaged.
10. As mentioned earlier, if you have the inclination and a hobbyist skillset, this cooler can easily be customized to suit your needs. You could remove unneeded fans for quieter operation, replace a stock fan with a higher cfm fan for problem areas, or possibly with a little more work and skill, attach a panel to close off the underside. Also, if you happen to have a laptop that sucks air through the sides and exhausts out the bottom, you could easily reverse the airflow orientation of the fans with a little splicing (ironically, the box says this is original direction of the airflow, but it wasn't this way on my unit).
Overall, a great bang for the buck cooler, and I highly recommend it. |

Works fine for now. I had the exact model before, but one of the fans died, than another. I've had several of these kinds of cool pads. For under $20.00 you extend the performance and the life of a notebook computer by years. Using temp monitors you can see big differences when it is used. Add manuel control to the internal fans and you keep clock performance up with temps in a much lower range. This is a must have for anyone with a notebook computer.
Get a cookie sheet to put under it unless you like shredded lap, or enjoy that sort of thing. The bottom is not comfortable to place on your lap. On a table it will suck up paper into the fans or anything light. |
very well made at a good price

| I own several different pads and this one is the best made of them all and the least expensive. This is a real good buy and is metal, which I believe are the best pads. The problem with metal is their open back which needs a flat hard surface to work on, I use mine on a desk so no problem for me.Good, good deal on a truly well made cooling pad. |
